Use presets to store different configurations. When you save a preset, it keeps selected restrictions so that they can be easily retrieved in the future. Deskman includes some presets with different security objectives in mind. Use them, if you like, as a base from where to start your own configuration.
- Once you have selected your restrictions, press
Ctrl-S
to save a preset - The Apply button must be clicked to activate selected restrictions after loading a preset
- To backup presets, use the Import/Export options in the File menu
Default Presets
- Basic Security : Protect access to system settings — useful to keep users from tampering with desktop and system configurations
- Advanced Protection : Protects the system tightly — running applications allowed and not much more
- Kiosk Mode : See below
Kiosk Mode
Certain configurations require a special —kiosk— mode that only allows the use of a specific application, while disabling access to all other system and desktop features. Deskman includes a kiosk mode preset for you to create a tightly protected desktop in a snap. Once the kiosk mode is enabled, the desktop is completely sealed. Upon restart, desktop icons will be hidden, the taskbar out of sight and no system keys will be allowed.
Add autorun applications or websites from the Settings window.
